Developer ION LANDS and publisher 505 Games previously announced Nivalis, a follow up to the developer’s breakout success Cloudpunk. Cloudpunk—released back in 2020—was groundbreaking at the time. The game placed you in the role of a courier working for a shady delivery company in a futuristic cyberpunk city called Nivalis. The gameplay took place mostly in your hover car and was heavily inspired by the flying car segments of Blade Runner.
Nivalis, on the other hand, is a life sim style game that takes place in the same world as Cloudpunk. In Nivalis, you can run various businesses, cook meals, go fishing, find love, and interact with the city of Nivalis in more comprehensive ways than was possible in Cloudpunk. 505 Games was recently at Tokyo Game Show to reveal the latest trailer for the game.
We don’t have an exact release date for Nivalis as of right now, but according to the trailer above, we should be getting it sometime in 2024. So not much longer to wait now.
I’m personally very excited for this game. Cloudpunk was one of my favorite games of the year when I finally played it last year. One of my only complaints about the game when I reviewed it was that you couldn’t interact more with the city during the on-foot segments. It seems like ION LANDS has fixed that in Nivalis as interacting with the city seems like the primary game mechanic. And I couldn’t be more excited.
